Study or not to study

The time has arrive for me to decide on my next step in life. Having just finish my NS.

Beside the fact that i need to go out to work. I am also looking into the future. Should i go and further my study and perharp get a degree or should i concentrate on give my best for my future employer(whoever that might be) For now, I will be playing a waiting game, i will be going out to work but i will still be keeping this option open. Might be going to study later...The fact i am bother by this is becoz of this 5 major reasons

1. Is it even going to help?

I am sure lots of you out there are thinking the same. Some might argue that a degree is definitly more useful than a diploma when one goes out to look for job. My arguement would then be what if two person, one armed with a degree the other a diploma, went after the same job? The one that has only gotten a diploma will likely to have 1-2 yrs of experience in that field have completed the studies earlier. The one holding a degree would likely to have been a fresh grad. Now on top of that the one with diploma might be asking for a lesser monthly salary, wouldn't that makes the diploma grad a better choice for the employer. Of course that might juz apply for design. Coz i know for course like medical... engineering, a degree programme would be more advanced. How many times do we hear things like, wat you learn in school is not the same when you go out to work. So is it going to help then.

2. COST

Studying is so expensive that some people i heard spend the next 5-6 yrs after they graduated to repay their educational loans. Studying for a yr in Aust might set u back 30-40k. Thats alot..Is it worth it, does it justify?

3. Experience

I know the pros of studying would likely to be in tend of experience and exposure. Now that might be something money cannot buy. The thing is that even not studying, one can also gain this thru working...

4. Which one to pick????

Another problem is that with so many schools and similar courses around. Which one is the best.? Many a time, ppl rush into chosing a course and ended up regretting it yet dun wish to withdraw and pick a new one. Fear of pick yet another wrong one, Fear of wasting time and money, Fear of ending up nowhere.... I believe alot of ppl study in NTU, NUS, SMU and other private Us either no sure of what they have pick or they dun really like what they have pick. Y? Aren't they not the smarter ones, future U grads, yet they might not have a clue of what they are getting into.. I certainly dun want to be one.

5. Is this even right for me.

This would probaly be the hardest question to answer for myself. I have seen many course mates, IAD frens, who are pursuing different career paths. some totally different from interior design, even design for some. For me, it has always been a dream to be able to create something that to my liking and do certain thing my way. Adding a personal input. So i really want to do well in this field. What i have given myself is a chance to make it.. nothing more. But sometime one has to ask themselves this.. are u cut out to do this?? Millions will be watching the World Cup this June. But only 736 will be playing.. am i able to be 1 of them in my field..
